We use the simple present to talk about things in general. When we use the simple present, we are not thinking only about the present time, but also about things that happen all the time, things that are known to be facts, or things that happen according to a schedule or habit.
It is used in the following ways.

The spelling for the present simple does not change except for the HE,SHE, IT.. For
example I eat
- He eats.
There are some other spelling rules that apply to
He, She and It. All the following verbs add
es instead of s:
| Verb Endings | Spelling Examples | Signal Words |
|---|---|---|
| Verbs ending in -o add -es | do - does, go - goes | always |
| Verbs ending in -s add -es | pass - passes, kiss - kisses | every .... |

| Verbs ending in -ch add -es | watch - watches, catch - catches | normally |
| Verbs ending in -sh add -es | push - pushes, rush - rushes | usually |
| Verbs ending in a consonant and -y often change the -y to -ies: | try - tries, cry - cries, worry - worries | sometimes |
| Verbs such as buy have no consonant before the y, so you simply add -s as usual. | buy - buys, pay - pays | seldom |
| The verbs can, may, might, must remain the same in all forms. So don't add s. | he can, she may, it must | never |
