An element is a substance which we can’t break down into other substances. Elements are
composed of atoms which consist mainly of space. The atom of each element is different
from the atom of every other element. The element hydrogen for example, has a single
electron, but uranium has 92 electrons. Elements combine to form compounds, water is
the most common; it is composed of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.
